Pot Roast

Not much to say. It was just freaking delicious.

First, we covered the entire piece of meat with pepper marinade and put a lot of plastic wrap around, so that we could put it back into the fridge for overnight.

The next day we first fried, then stewed the roast meat in a roast meat sauce. About half an hour before it was done, we added some vegetables, such as onions and bell pepper.

After all the cooking time, we had a perfect pot roast. We combined that with potato dumplings and red cabbage. Tasty!
Lecker!

Sort of English Breakfast

Hey guys, we're still here! Seriously, this semester is really exhausting, but we always kept taking photos of nice stuff that we made, so that we can post them later. Yesterday we had one exam and now we can look forward to christmas break. :)
In the next days, there'll surely be more, but to begin with, here's one yummy breakfast we had - a long time ago. ;)

Vanilla Oreo Ice Cream Treats

You might not have known, but we've been on vacation for 8 days and that's why we didn't post lately. We've fully enjoyed the beautiful seaside in Mallorca and the warm weather. Unfortunately, it's sooo cold and rainy back here in Germany :( If you want to see some holiday pictures, you can look at them on my personal blog here.
It's still a week left until university starts again and we should still have quite a lot of free time. However, our schedules are pretty filled with organisational stuff, appointments and so on.
This afternoon, I had some free time and I wanted to try something I wanted to make for sooo long. In the end I spent like two hours in the kitchen, but the result makes it all worth it. These little ice cream treats have an Oreo base and an Oreo ball on top of it. I think the hardest part might have been crunching the cookies up. Of course, these treats are really really really sweet. Like really. I would totally recommend drinking a cup of coffee with that. ;)

Also wirklich süß. ;)

Scrambled Eggs with Pepper and Tofu

Yesterday evening I had a little bit of hunger, but I really didn't want to cook something difficult, so I made some scrambled eggs with bread. These are really really fast and yummy. Just chop about 1/3 of a medium-sized onion, about 100g smoked tofu and one red pepper. Then fry everything and add 4 whipped, salted and peppered eggs. Tastes really great!

Schmeckt superlecker!

Chicken Tortilla Wraps

A couple days ago we made something really easy and really tasty: Tortilla Wraps. We just took the Wraps, fried some chicken and added some mixed salat and mayonnaise. It's pretty easy and fast to make and it's also pretty good for taking it as a snack for a long ride ;)

New Design!!

EDIT 2: You can now choose the color you want the blog to have on the sidebar :)

EDIT: Due to some improvement ideas which we found really reasonable, we decided to change the blue to a fresh green. We like it a lot! :)

As you might have noticed, we changed the design of our blog. We thought the old one was a bit outdated and as always, when we should be studying, we did something completely different ;). So let us know what you think about it in the survey below.

Also lasst uns in der Umfrage unten wissen, was ihr davon haltet.

Viking Pot with Meatballs and Spaetzle

This is a very fast and easy idea for a yummy dinner. We used the Knorr Fix for Viking Pot with Meatballs, added a little bit more cream, so that we can used it as a sauce and cooked some spaetzle.

Cookbook series Part 1: Spinach Quiche with Ewe's Cheese

This post is actually really delayed since we made the quiche last Thursday. However, we had to wait for a response from the publisher of the cook book where we got the recipe from, whether we're allowed to publish some of the photos coming up. Finally, we're able to show you how it turned out :)

Some time ago, we got contacted by a publisher to review a new vegetarian cook book for students. After that we've received the book, we found a bunch of yummy-looking recipe that we want to try. Since our next exam is coming up very soon, we didn't have that much time to try them all at a time, so we will try them one after another. At the end of this "series", we will also post a final summary and recommendation. The first recipe we tried was this spinach quiche mit ewe's cheese.

We made the quiche following the steps, but changed some ingredients. Since we weren't able to find fresh spinach, we used frozen spinach. In the end, it turned out that it wasn't a good decision due to the water in the frozen spinach. The entire quiche became a little too liquid, but it tasted awesome!

How to NOT make a Watermelon Cake

Hey guys!
I've been home at my parents' for a few days this week and since I did have lots of free time, I tried to remake the watermelon cake which Aspyn from HauteBrilliance on YouTube showed in her video (click here). Unfortunately, I didn't have greek yogurt at home. Which led me to improvise and fail. ;)

Hallo Leute!

I started with pretty unspectacular stuff: A small watermelon, some yogurt and since mine wasn't as stiff as greek yogurt, I also prepared 5 sheets of gelatine (we only had red ones at home, but that doesn't make any difference).

Next I cut the watermelon to a reasonable cake shape by removing the skin.

This step is probably the step I did severely wrong. I mixed the yogurt with the resolved gelatine (which was quite warm) and the mixture immediately became really fluid. Of course, it wasn't a good idea to thicken the yogurt that way, but I just thought that it would work. The consistency of the mixture made me change my plans from simply frosting the watermelon by applying the frosting to a more complicated method.

I covered a bowl with plastic wrap and filled in the yogurt mixture. Then I put the watermelon upside down into the bowl and slightly pressed ist down until the yogurt mix was coming up on the sides. After a few hours in the fridge, I took it out and flipped the whole thing onto a plate. Everything okay until now.

However, when removing the plastic wrap, the entire frosting just slipped down on the sides since it's really slimy because of the gelatine and there's no hold on the even surface of the watermelon. It even got worse when I tried to somehow cut one slice out of that. Well, you see the result in the pictures above. Despite of the strange look of that, it still tasted awesome! :)

Pasta with Ground Meat and Cauliflower (with recipe)

As said in the last post, we just love cauliflower. That's probably why we always tend to choose cauliflower as vegetable in our meals, but seriously, you can just put in whatever veggie you like. It's just so easy and so yummy.

1. Fry 250g grounded meat and 1 medium-sized, hashed onion in a frying pan. Cook about 250g spaghetti (for 2-3 portions) in salted water until they're al dente.

2. Slice 1 cauliflower into small pieces and cook them in water. Then add the cauliflower pieces with 200g whipping cream and about 40g of grating cheese to the grounded meat in the pan. Add salt and pepper as you like.
